Parachute
(Packed for Use)
Visually check visible parts for serviceability and
completeness without opening deployment bag.
Check parachute inspection data record for pack
date and also check inspection data pocket for
availability of reefing line cutter tags to ensure
the reefing line cutters are armed. Confirm
model of parachute.

Canopy
As canopy is inflated for shakeout, remove all
debris by hand using a suitable broom or brush.
Also check for dampness, fungus, mildew, acid,
grease, oil, dirt, foreign material, holes, cuts,
tears; broken lines and webbing.
Fabric Material. Legibility of marking data;
completeness; dampness, fungus, mildew, dirt,
acid, grease, oil, foreign material, rips, burns,
cuts, breaks, frays, tears, holes, thin spots,
loose weaving; loose or broken stitching, tacking
lines; freedom of lines in radial seams; raveled
ends.
Hardware Components. Corrosion, rough spots,
burrs, breaks, cracks, bends; loose or missing
screws and reefing line rings; stripped or
damaged threads.

Deployment Bag
Completeness, dampness, fungus/mildew, acid,
grease, oil, dirt, foreign material, holes, cuts and
breaks.
Fabric Materials. Completeness; dampness,
fungus/mildew, dirt, acid, grease, oil, foreign
material, rips, burns, cuts, breaks, frays, tears,
holes; loose or broken stitching.
Hardware Components. Corrosion, rough spots,
breaks, cracks, bends; loose or missing
grommets.
