Repair. Repair a side or center main strap as follows:
Restitching. Restitch broken or loose stitching, using a medium duty sewing machine with size E nylon thread.
Stitch over original pattern and lock each row by 2 inches.
b.
Replace. Replace a damaged pack closing loop on a pack closing flap by fabricating as follows:
(1)
Remove the original pack closing loop by cutting the loop material at a point adjacent to the upper end of
each stitch formation located on each side of the loop.
(2)
Cut a 12-inch length of type 11 cotton webbing and wax the ends.
(3)
Make a fold at the webbing center to form a loop according to original construction details.
(4)
Position the folded material in the original loop location, allowing the running ends to extend over the original
stitched loop ends.
(5)
At a point 1 Inch below the top of the formed loop, secure each running end of the replacement loop by
stitching a 5-inch long two-point-WW-stitch formation according to the details in figure 2-62. Stitching will be
made in accordance with paragraph 2-17, and using the specifics in table 2-3.
