Section IV. UNIT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES (PMCS)
2-8. GENERAL. Always keep in mind the WARNINGS and CAUTIONS when you perform your checks and services.
PMCS is performed upon receipt and quarterly thereafter. Record all defects found during performance of PMCS and, if
applicable, the steps taken to correct them, on DA Form 2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet.
Instructions for reporting/correcting noted deficiencies are provided in DA PAM 738-750.
2-9. UNIT PMCS PROCEDURES. Table 2-1 lists the specific PMCS that must be performed by unit maintenance
personnel on a quarterly schedule. If your equipment fails to operate, troubleshoot as described in Section V.
a. Purpose. PMCS is accomplished to insure that the equipment is ready for use at all times and all deficiencies
are corrected promptly. These checks and services are designed to help you find and correct defects before the
equipment is damaged or fails to operate.

the "TM Item No." column of DA Form 2404.
