a. Repair. Proceed as follows:
(1) Remove damaged lanyard or safety pin by cutting lanyard or untying knots securing the
lanyard to the static line.
(2) Cut a 5-inch length of 0.080-inch diameter corrosion resistant steel wire and form a 31/8-inch
safety pin.
(3) Remove the core cords from a 20-inch length of type II (or type III), nylon cord. Tie an
overhand knot in each end and sear the ends. Fold the cord in half and attach to the safety
pin with a girth-hitch.
(4) Tie an overhand knot in the cord no closer than 5-inches from the safety pin. Run one end of
the cord through the static line loop, where the snap hook is attached, and secure on top of
the static line with a surgeons knot and a locking knot.
